McAdam
sings 'A Million Miles'
Mike McAdam. Who knew?
Lots of folks figured
they knew: McAdam's six-string work with Steve Earle, Radney
Foster and plenty of other heavyweights proved the Richmond,
Va., native was one of Music City's finer guitar players. That
was, it seemed at the time, the whole of his musical prowess.
But then, a few months
ago, McAdam came out with a CD called A Million Miles. Even
a quick and cursory listen to songs like Paper Thin or Eden
Avenue called for a reexamination of his talents. Suddenly,
Mike McAdam the guitar honcho was Mike McAdam the guitar honcho
and singer-songwriter extraordinaire.
Anyway, live
and learn. And listen, why don't you? Tonight, McAdam appears
at Billy Block's Western Beat show at the Exit/In. He'll go
onstage around 9 p.m., and he'll play in a style both twanged-up
and rocked out. Others on tonight's bill include Toni Catlin,
Nancy Terzian, Bruce Miller, Jeff Barbra & Sarah Pirkle,
Davis Raines, Kevin Montgomery and Anthony Crawford. Show starts
at 7 p.m. $5 cover.
